Everything You've Learned About Writing is a Lie
Literature Basics Week
Okay, so maybe not everything. But there's a lot of stuff that I remember learning in middle and high school that turned out to not actually work for me -- or for pretty much anybody -- as a writer. I'm hoping that if I can lay these lies out for you, we cans turn it around and unlearn some of these bad habits. Because, man, nothing says "noob" like practicing some of these frequently-taught faux pas.
Lie #1: Be super duper descriptive!
Wait, wait, I know what you're thinking. Descriptive language is good, right? You want your reader to know what you're talking about, and to be able to see, smell it, hear it, touch i
I'm odd. I can be gothic and scary someimes but I am normally over enthusiastic and happy. I have awesome friends who are able to deal with my bubbly personality. Everyone was panting and covered in mud and blood and zombie grime. Elliot had his shield swinging next to him and was leaning on his spear, his leather tr
Hey Guys,
So... the A Life and Un-death Situation thing... yeah, been a while. I can not promise any more installments until about... June, July?
Don't kill me, please, I have exams that I need to do well in and a job to get and a bunch of school work to get on with. Ah, what a busy time.
However, I will be forced to go out by my family at weekends and in study leave (for some reason my Mum thinks that I should forget revision and do exercise...pfffft exercise) so there should be lots of pictures of flowers and buildings and animals and stuff. I'm also going to a different part of the UK in the summer so there should be lots of
